The 2017-2018 South Dakota Grant Recipients are:

  • Custer Health: Standing Rock Mobile Mammography Outreach Program – $23,961
    The Standing Rock Mobile Mammography Outreach Program will target American Indian female residents of Corson County in north-central South Dakota. By providing mobile mammography, it will decrease the distance women must travel to receive mammograms at no cost to them. Breast health education will be provided at the screening events in one-on-one and small group settings. A patient navigator will also be available to provide support for women with abnormal screening results.

  • South Dakota Department of Health – All Women Count! – $59,800
    The purpose of the All Women Count Program is to promote breast and cervical cancer screenings to age and income eligible women in South Dakota. Through this grant, the program will continue to fund breast cancer screening and diagnostic services to low income women ages 40-49.

  • Gundersen Medical Foundation: Pine Ridge Cancer Screening & Leadership Transportation Support Program – $38,701
    The Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care and Gunderson Global Partners program will provide important breast health education to women living in the Pine Ridge Reservation. This grant will also fund 200 women with breast cancer screenings through collaboration with the Pine Ridge Hospital as well as through Gundersen’s mobile mammography initiative in locations in Kyle, Oglala, and Wanblee South Dakota.

  • John T Vucurevich Regional Cancer Care Institute: Healing Pathways – $26,305  
    Healing Pathways objectives are to support rural and medically underserved women with travel assistance and survivorship programs. CCI will provide financial assistance to overcome the barriers of breast cancer treatment and plans to continue collaborations to expand breast cancer survivorship services within the patient navigation program. The goal of this grant is to touch over 400 hundred residents and families.
