Komen Nebraska Announces the 2016-2017 Small Grant Recipients

Susan G. Komen® Nebraska is pleased to announce eight nonprofit organizations in Nebraska that are the recipients of small grants. Small grants of up to $5,000 are awarded to tax-exempt organizations in Nebraska two times per year to support breast health education, pilot programs, conference, and travel grants. Overall grant funds of $35,177 will support breast health education and breast health awareness events statewide from now through March 2017.

The organizations that received funding are as follows:

Foundation for Annie Jeffrey—Mothers, Daughters and Friends
Saunders Health Services Foundation—Saunders County Pink Out
South Omaha Community Care Council—BiNational Health Week-Women’s Health Night
Thayer County Health Services—Busting Out for Breast Cancer
University of Nebraska Medical Center—Breast Cancer-Educate to Prevent
West Central District Health Department—Breast Health Connection
YMCA of Greater Omaha—LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
YWCA of Adams County—We are Strong Together

The grants complement efforts to serve residents in Douglas, Saunders, Custer, Dawson and Lincoln counties — long-term priority areas identified by the Susan G. Komen Nebraska Community Profile given the higher than average late-stage breast cancer incidence and death rate in these counties.

NOTE: At this time, all small grant funds have been expended for 2016-2017. Komen Nebraska will not accept applications in November. Please check in the spring of 2017 for new small grant funding guidelines and October 2016 for community grant opportunities.
